In addition to graduating from The Gnesin Russian Academy
of Music as a sound engineer, I was also lucky to get valuable experience from my Western colleagues during internships at several European and British recording studios (Abbey Road Mastering, AIR Mastering, Bayerischer Rundfunk and others). All of this has allowed me to shape my unique personal approach, work ethic and helped me choose mastering as my primary speciality.

Saturday Mastering is a studio with a rich history that stood at the very origins of mastering in Russia.
It was founded by Andrei Subbotin in 1994. It was the place where many cult songs and iconic albums of countless era-defying artists acquired their final sound: Alla Pugacheva, Leonid Agutin, Aquarium, Mumiy Troll, t.A.T.u. and many others.
These days the studio has a small close-knit team of professional engineers who use their personal experience and high-quality equipment to work with modern music of any genre.

Stereo Mastering
Final polish of a mix to enhance the overall sound, creating consistency across the album, preparing it for distribution and optimize playback across all systems and media formats.

Stem Mastering
Gives an opportunity to be more flexible during the mastering work and to have more control over the elements of the mix, which can be helpful especially with some tricky mixes. The degree of our intervention is necessarily discussed with the client before starting work. We don't want to change the "picture" you've created if you don't expect us to. The service can be especially relevant for musicians or sound engineers who mix in difficult acoustic conditions and are not completely sure of their result.

Vinyl Premastering
Mastering for vinyl is the process of creating a separate master that can be cut into a vinyl record without added unwanted distortion.

DDP
Standard industry format for CD duplication. DDP creation process includes sequencing the album in the right order, controlling pauses and transitions between the tracks, implementing isrc codes, CD-texts etc. This master disk contains all the relevant information to manufacture your material for distribution to your audience.
We also supply a HOFA DDP Player which enables you to play your DDP, check all the metadata, extract individual .wav files and burn CDs, if you need.

Terms of cooperation
Our invoice would be sent to you after discussing formats and deliverables etc., asking for a 50% payment before any mastering work is undertaken. Upon receiving the 50% we start mastering and send you excerpts of the mastered files to ensure that you are happy with the process.
Once the work has been approved, we ask for the remaining 50% balance to be paid and of course the complete masters in their various formats would then be sent to you.
We normally seek to deliver your masters within three to five days. If your project is particularly large or complicated, we would discuss all this with you before starting the work and give you an accurate estimate of the expected delivery date.
If you have any further questions, we'd be very happy to answer them so please do contact us.

Answers to questions
Please upload the highest resolution files of your mix. You can use any upload server that is convenient for you. Please supply specific info on the individual tracks if you have some specific concerns/notes/suggestions what should be fixed or kept as is. If you have references for the sound or general vibe of your record, please attach it as audio files or links to streaming platforms.
Once your files have been received, we will check them to ensure the integrity of the audio. We can then start the dialogue with you about the desired eventual outcome. This interaction between the artist/engineer/producer we regard as fundamentally important to the work.
Having no final limiter on the master buss would help us enormously achieve the result you are seeking. Any other processing on the master bus (compression, equalization, saturation, etc) is up to you.
You can also submit 2 versions of the mix: with and without processing on the master bus. We will be happy to analyse what effect you wanted to achieve and choose the best version of the mix to work with.
If you are planning to master an album or an EP, please add the order of the tracks and any specific comments regarding the pauses and transitions.

Yes, of course. A reasonable number of revisions (usually up to 2-3 revisions) is included in the price. We want you to be completely delighted with the result.
At the moment we only master recordings and we are extremely aware of the importance of your mix and work diligently with you to keep the integrity of what the mix has achieved. If you feel that the mix is lacking in some way we will be happy to recommend to you our fellow mixing engineers with whom we often collaborate.
We normally seek to deliver your masters within three to five days. If your project is particularly large or complicated, we would discuss all this with you before starting the work and give you an accurate estimate of the expected delivery date.
The number of stems (groups) depends on the material, arrangement, and the overall goal. In most cases, we ask you to group instruments in a logical way. A typical example would be: drums, bass, acoustic guitars, electric guitars, synths, lead vocal, backing vocals.
In some cases, more detailed stems can be useful (for example: kick, snare, overheads).
Please keep balances, processing, and panning as they are, so that when all stems are played back together, the result matches your mix as closely as possible.
When exporting stems, disable the final limiter or clipper on the master bus. Other master bus processing that is essential for the sound of your mix can be left on — or we can discuss its relevance if you’re unsure.
Along with stems, please include your stereo mix for reference, as well as your master or a version with a limiter, if you have one.
File format: WAV, 32 bit, with the sample rate of your project.
